
Richard Aitken-Davies was elected President of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) in May 2008.
ACCA is the global body for professional accountants, with 325,606 students and 122,426 members in 170 countries worldwide.
Mr Aitken-Davies became a Fellow of ACCA (FCCA) in 1980, and has served on ACCA's Council since 2000. He is Chairman of ACCA's Nominating Committee and its influential external Financial Reporting Committee. He has also served on ACCA's Finance Committee, Governance Committee, ACCA UK Committee, Remuneration Committee, Tax Committee, International Assembly and UK Small Business Committee.
During an extensive career in industry both in the UK and US, Mr Aitken- Davies has gained a wealth of experience in public and private sectors including senior executive roles in Powergen, Railtrack, London & Continental Railways, and the Central Electricity Generating Board. During a period working in the US, he had responsibility for implementation of the provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and has supported the work of audit committees on both sides of the Atlantic.
Mr Aitken-Davies is currently non executive chairman of two companies in the UK.
Brought up in West Yorkshire, Mr Aitken-Davies divides his time between Derby and London. He is married with three grown-up children and his interests include travel, theatre and politics.
