
Brendan Murtagh was elected President of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) in May 2009.
ACCA is the global body for professional accountants, with 362,000 students and 131,500 members in 170 countries worldwide.
Mr Murtagh is a Fellow of ACCA having trained with a mid-sized practice, qualifying in 1991. He was a founding partner of the practice, LHM Casey McGrath, which is based in Dublin, Ireland and is a seven partner practice with 70 staff.
Mr Murtagh is an assurance partner with the firm and has 20 years relevant experience in advising clients in the small and medium sized business in a range of business sectors. His experience also includes the areas of insolvency, corporate consultancy and litigation support.
He is a past president of ACCA Ireland, and has represented ACCA on the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies - Ireland. He has also served as an ACCA Council since 2000.
