ACCA blogger Katy Ran Tao from Singapore decided to pursue a career in accountancy following a two-year management training programme with a multinational company in the US . 'I chose to study with ACCA because it is a truly professional organisation with worldwide recognition,' says Katy, 'and it is open to anyone starting out in accountancy.'
A recent prizewinner for Paper F5 (with 90 marks), Katy enjoys learning new things, and feels that studying for the ACCA Qualification provides a great challenge because of the 'ever-changing environment, and the dynamic nature of the syllabus.'
Katy is currently a full-time student at London SAM, but will shortly return to Singapore, where in the future she hopes to fulfil her ambition of becoming a CFO of a medium-sized company.
Through her posts, Katy aims to share her personal experiences of studying; she welcomes feedback and the opportunity to make new friends. Throughout the year, she plans to discuss technical issues, exam stress, and work/life balance among other things.'
When she is not studying, Katy enjoys a particularly active lifestyle. 'My favourite pastime has got to be playing sports,' she says 'I'm a big fan of regular exercise because it keeps me fit, releases tension and trains my mind to be focused. I have a pretty fixed schedule – I go to the gym twice a week, play badminton on Thursdays and Saturdays, and visit the golf driving range weekly.'
Katy is also passionate about good food – especially desserts. 'There's nothing better than going to restaurants with friends; chatting about life over these sweetest things is heaven,' she says.
