The D Day

Hmm….what should this particular post be about? It can be about anything but it is difficult to think about anything else but the RESULTS! In less than a weeks time all of us who attempted the December 2007 exams will know how we fared. I try not to think too much about the results before they are actually out, but there always a ticker counting down to the D day at the back of my mind.

Somehow after the exams are over in December, the results seem like a long way off and there is always the welcome respite from the pressure before the grind of classes and books start again. But this time flows past very quickly and results are right around the corner yet again. The anticipation, excitement, nervousness is very palpable among my friends.

Usually on the day the results are expected, I try not to go online and check my email account a thousand times before they are actually in the inbox. That I think just increases the already mounting stress levels. But, you just know they have come in when friends start texting you on the mobile to ask how you have done or send frantic messages asking whether you have received the results yet or not. In fact some receive it slightly later than others due to different email service providers. Anyway, there is always the option to check it on ACCA website directly by logging on to your student account if they are not yet delivered to your email inbox.

All of the other times, coincidently, I have been outside Singapore when the results came in. It is slightly better as it allows you to take your mind of it since you are busy with other things. However, once you do sign in to check your email and see that mail in your inbox, the first thing you look for is the pass or fail indication next to the different subjects before making sense of the actual mark beside each one. For most people, the results are sometime unexpected, either worse or better than they expected to perform. Yet, it is only after the results that one can decide how many and which subjects to be taken up in the next sitting.

Since the countdown has started, here is wishing tons of luck to everyone like me anxiously awaiting their results.

Who ever said that the P1, P2 and P3 were easier than the optional papers(i.e P4,P5,P6,P7)? It has always been the case that the compulsary papers are the harder papers, and it has been proven by the passing rates from previous sittings. Ever heard the saying from some lecturers "If you can pass the compulsary papers, optional papers will not be a problem"?

Anyhow, I do agree with you about the stress mounting up when "D Day" comes. It is indeed a very scary experience especially when you do not know how well you did in the examinations.

Anyways Shivani, how were your results? Hope you passed your papers with flying colours.
